We are sure you already know you need new batteries else you wouldn't be looking here now, but you may not know why they haven't lasted quite as long as you would have liked, or maybe you are more than happy if so skip the next paragraph as we try to show you how to best look after this kind of battery.
If you have left the battery for many months and tried to charge it the batteries are probably kaput, if they are not being used they need to be charged every two or three months else they will degrade to the point of no return. If you have been using the battery on a regular basis then you are probably running it down to far before charging, the best way is to never discharge below 50% as this is when any damage is done to the cells, constantly going below 50% will reduce the overall number of charges a battery will be able to receive in its life, we would suggest recharging after every use. We know that this will not always be possible, and indeed some trips may use up more than half the battery capacity, but it's all a compromise weighing up the use of the battery and to the cost of replacing it.
Some Freerider scooters may come with extend battery packs from new as supplied from the manufacture, so it is wise to double check what batteries you already have installed, for example if a scooter has a pair of 12 volt 12's as standard but an extend pack was installed it may have 12v 17's or vice versa and the pack will not physically fit, so for the 5 minutes it takes its best to check first, after all you will want to know how to fit them before ordering so it's a wise investment of your time.
