Valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries, combined with absorbed glass mat or AGM, produce a non-spillable battery pack that is not-hazardous, making it the manufacturer's choice for Medicare mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs. You should ensure you charge your batteries when they arrive, before first use, and after every use. It's far better to allow them to sit in a discharged state. Also, if they are not being used, then a top-up charge is applied every four weeks. Although it's probably not wise to leave them on charge 24 hours a day unless you have a lot of faith in your charger, most are not suitable.

It will take several uses and associated recharges before the Medicare battery cells can take a full-capacity charge.
