You should charge your new Merits-Health mobility battery when it arrives and before using it for the first time. It will not take long as it will be coming out to you almost fully charged anyway. In general use you should charge after every use, do not try to run down the battery, the only thing that will do is shorten the life span of it.

It will take about ten uses in the disability device before the cells are able to accept a full-capacity charge. this is quite normal and part of the conditioning process that all batteries will go through from new. If you are not using them for long periods then you must also recharge every four weeks or so to maintain the cells in good order for future use.
