If the LED light on your AEG UPS system indicates the battery needs replacing, do not delay. You have the equipment in place to protect your valuable data, so it's wise to ensure it's replaced as quickly as possible to preserve the integrity of your important data on your computer or other equipment.

You should expect two to five years of battery life in a system, but this can be reduced somewhat when you draw too much power. Only a few years ago, servers and other computer equipment would have had much smaller power supplies; it is now common for them to be double, if not nearly three times, as large as they were, as they struggle to supply sufficient energy for ever-increasing processing speeds. The uninterrupted power supply is often left out in the bid to get faster, more efficient equipment. The other factor is heat: a very hot communications room with little ventilation, or a UPS covered under piles of cabling, will ensure an early retirement for your batteries.
