They are non hazardous, will not leak, can be mounted on their side and very hardy able to withstand quite extreme temperatures over long periods of time, the only maintenance they require is to be kept charged, in common with all rechargeable batteries they lose a little energy every month and need to charged every three months if not being used, where possible it is better to not allow the charge to go below 50% this will allow a lot more cycles of the battery and ensure a much longer battery life.
