These sealed batteries are often found on lightweight mobility scooters, electric bikes and many other applications, if your battery is not holding the charge as it once did or has not been charged for ages and you have now discovered its completely dead then it's probably time to change and by a new replacement battery.
This type of sealed lead battery will last a very long time if treated correctly, although its not always practical it would be best not to discharge it below 50% as below this is harder work on the cells upon recharging, best practise is normally to charge after every use and if not using for long periods every 3 months.
Valve regulated sealed lead batteries or VRLA, also absorbed glass mat technology or AGM, they will not spill, they need no maintenance ( except of course charging) and are non hazardous, can normally be used in mobility scooters on aeroplanes subject to airline rules of course.
