Cagiva, as a company, is a child of the 1950s that did not start to go into motorcycle production until the late 1970s, when it purchased an existing bike manufacturing factory. There has been a lot of purchasing and, for that matter, selling over the years, with links to Harley-Davidson, Ducati, Moto Morini, Husqvarna and MV Agusta, to name but a few. Many of the Cagiva motorcycles are rebranded or have other makes 'engines in them, such as Ducati, as well as later Japanese ones, with success in both motocross and road racing. The large-engine mud-plugger motocross bikes are quite distinct in appearance and very powerful.

If you use your Cagiva motorcycle regularly, you are already looking after your battery in the best possible way. If, however, it spends periods in the garage, maybe during the winter then the best advice we could offer is to remove the battery and charge it every six weeks, but do not leave it on a charger for more than twenty-four hours, store it in a dry place, not too warm but certainly frost free.
