The Hercules was a German company founded way back in early Victorian times to produce bicycles, in the early 1900's it switched its focus to motorcycle production and has many models to its credit, probably its most famous was the W-2000, this was normally marketed in the UK branded as by DKW motorcycles. The reason that this was a marked piece of history as it was the first publicly available wankel engine on a motorcycle, a single rotor air cooled 294cc machine which curiously relied on a petrol oil mix to lubricate the rotor, this was changed to a separate oil tank a few years later on its higher horse power version. Not long after it also produced a even enduro version but sadly that was never very successful due to its high cost

Most of these Hercules motorbikes are more collector's items than everyday rideable machines this means that you need to maintain the charging of the battery to keep it in workable condition, charge it every six to eight weeks to keep the cells fresh but never for more than 24 hours, obviously you should check that there is nothing in the wiring than may slowly discharge the battery while on the bike, if you suspect this then remove the battery until required.
