The batteries will be delivered with a good charge, but you still need to fully charge them before first use. It should not take that long, just until the charger indicates it's ready. If in doubt, overnight will be more than enough. Don't install and use them without this initial charge; doing so can shorten their expected lifespan. It's well worth doing
These batteries are deep cycle capable, which is essential in this type of application. The VRLA and AGM cells will not leak and are not hazardous, so they are suitable for travelling; there is no maintenance required, except, of course, charging, which we have covered on this page, for both VRLA and AGM
