The Freerider companion batteries can be easily removed, this is built in to make it more convenient and lighter to lift when transporting your scooter, they are positioned under the black box cover beneath the seat and the batteries are held in place with Velcro straps.
To take good care of your new scooter batteries keep them charges, any damage that is done to the cells which restrict the battery life will always happen when the battery has less than a 50% charge, while it is not always possible to only use half of the battery capability it is something you should bear in mind, using a battery is a compromise between convenience and what is best for your battery, try to charge after every use and if not being used charge every two or three months
