Valve-regulated sealed lead-acid with absorbed glass mat technology. You might also see them as VRLA and AGM; to the end user, it means they are non-hazardous and will not spill. They can be mounted on the side and are often seen in portable devices as well as UPS systems and essential medical equipment.

If the battery is used in a device that requires human intervention for recharging, it typically lasts much shorter. In these cases, charge the battery when you receive it and before its first use. Always recharge it after each use, and avoid deliberately running the battery down, as this will reduce its lifespan. If you won't use the device for an extended period, recharge the battery every eight weeks and never leave it completely discharged. Charge the battery only until it reaches full capacity, and do not leave it on the charger for more than eight hours.
