The batteries you receive from us will be almost fully charged, but you should still charge them before first use. If the battery is fitted in something like a UPS system, you can miss this step as the onboard circuit will do a better job of charging it than you. The period of this initial charge before use must only be until the charger indicates it's finished, probably not very long. Make sure you do not miss the initial charge (unless stated above); doing so may reduce overall life expectancy.
Unless you are a very extended user, you will probably not notice that it can take several charges and use your equipment before a full capacity charge is achieved. This is all part of the conditioning process and relatively normal; as soon as you, after each use, put them back on charge, do not allow them to sit in a discharged state, and do not attempt to discharge the batteries deliberately, it will not rejuvenate them, it will only do them harm. It will reduce the life span. There may well be extended periods when the batteries are not actively used. If so, ensure they are charged thoroughly beforehand and then recharged every four to six weeks but do not leave them on the charger for more than twenty-four hours at a time.
The battery type is AGM which is short for absorbed glass mat construction. They are also valve regulated, which means they can be used around the home or in portable devices without the fear of any leakage; with deep cycle properties that this type of installation would require, they will need no maintenance throughout their entire life span and are not hazardous.
