These 6-volt 1.3Ah and 1.4Ah batteries can be used in portable devices; they are often found in essential medical and security monitoring equipment, even household and commercial property alarms, for battery backup- a very cost-effective and reliable power source.
When such a battery is installed in a mains-fed alarm system, the charging regime is handled by the onboard circuit board, which charges it effectively; sometimes it can last for many years in such an installation. So long as they are not forgotten about until it's too late and they do not fail during a power failure, it might be wise to check that they are still holding a good voltage after a couple of years, just to make sure.
If they are being used in a portable device you should charge them when you receive the order and before fitting, try to only run them down to 30% if you can, this will help them to last much longer. If they are not being used, you should also recharge them every four to six weeks to keep the cells fresh for later use and extend their lifespan.
