When such a battery is installed in an alarm system that is mains fed the charging regime is taken over by the onboard circuit board which charges it well, sometimes they can last for many years in such an installation, so long if the fact that they get forgotten about until its too late and do not work when there is a power failure, it might be wise to check they are still holding a good voltage after a couple of years just to make sure.
