This battery size is used in only a few devices. We have seen them used in portable medical equipment and public address systems. They are probably used in other devices but are less popular than many small lead-acid batteries.

If the battery is fitted in a portable device of some sort where you are reasonable manually for charging it, then charge fully when it turns up and before first use. Recharge after each use. It will do no good sitting around in a partially discharged state. If not used for long periods, a top-up charge every eight weeks will keep the cells fresh. Do not just leave it on the charger, though, as that can do more damage than good and shorten the life span.

These are valve-regulated sealed lead acid batteries. Constructed with absorbed glass mat technology, they will not leak if put in portable equipment and can be mounted on the side. They are better known as VRLA and AGM for short.

This type of battery is recyclable. Please ensure it is directed to a recycling centre when it has come to the end of its useful life.
