As to maintaining your battery, it is sealed so needs no attention but must be kept charged, if you use your bike a least a couple of times a week every week, every month all year round then you will have no issues you are already looking after it in the best possible way, its the people that use them less is where the problems can occur, especially for a whole season like winter, in an ideal world take the battery off the bike, store in a dry frost-free place off the floor and charge every six weeks, this stops the battery draining down naturally and removes the possibility of other factors like an alarm, immobiliser or even a small short in the wiring somewhere slowly draining the cells down, if you leave it on the device then do regular checks with a meter to make sure this is not happening, do not leave it on the charger either, just until charged and then remove, many cheaper trickle chargers may do more damage than good.
