The type battery pack is valve-regulated lead acid-type batteries. These are safe, non-hazardous batteries that will not leak, so that they can be mounted on the side without fear of leakage.

So far so good - it fires up the mower beautifully. It replaces the original Hayter battery which lasted 15 years but which had been failing to hold its charge for a while. Whether this one continues to work well in x years remains to be seen, but right now I'm very happy with it!
