On the back of your UPS, there will be a model number on a plate. There are many 1500VA versions, so you should check the exact model number on the reverse. It should state it's a SUA1500i. If not, search again in the bar above with the precise code to ensure you order the correct set for your UPS model.
This is a replacement battery pack for the APC Smart-UPS-1500 SUA1500I. These batteries are for the 1500VA USB and serial 230v line-interactive uninterruptible power supply. The floor-standing 980-Watt system typically recharges in three hours from flat.
The fitting of this battery pack is relatively straightforward and will not take more than ten to fifteen minutes to complete. We will outline how below. The only tools you may require will be a screwdriver and maybe a pair of pliers.
Upon receipt of the order, unpack the batteries and put them aside. When you are ready, shut down all the equipment the UPS protects. Then, shut down the UPS and remove the power lead from the reverse.
The front panel will pull off and down, but it can sometimes be a bit stiff. There are a couple of finger-size slots, which, if a little difficult, can be twisted and levered off using the flat edge of a screwdriver. Once off, you will see it's attached via a Ribbon cable, but it will be long enough for you to put it out of the way on top of the unit.
Then you will either be presented with two or four Phillips screws, or some models have a plastic toggle. Whatever yours has, remove them to drop the door down and then unlatch and put them to the side. You can then slide out the battery pack and disconnect the attachment lead.
Place the old and new batteries together in the same orientation and swap over the leads. One end will have a flat bar and contain a fuse. The other end will contain the cables to the connector. Just swap them onto the new ones and replace the batteries in the UPS.
As you can see, it will not take long. We recommend powering up the unit without any load to start, to ensure the batteries become fully charged. This will help reset the UPS to the new batteries.
