When you place your order, you'll notice the batteries arrive almost fully charged, but you still need to fully charge them before first use. Charge time depends on your charger; leave it on until it indicates it's finished. This first step is important, so do not ignore it. Do not use without this initial charge; doing so can shorten the expected lifespan.
You probably will not notice, but it may take up to ten charges and associated use before the batteries can take a full charge; this is normal. After you use your equipment, recharge it as soon as you can; do not leave it sitting in a partially discharged state any longer than necessary. Fully discharging the batteries will reduce their lifespan, so do not do it. There may be extended periods when the batteries are not being actively used; if so, ensure they are fully charged beforehand and then recharge them every four weeks, but do not leave them on the charger for more than 24 hours at a time.
These are 12-volt valve-regulated, sealed lead-acid batteries and will not leak. They are both AGM and VRLA; they are the required deep-cycle kind, and they are not hazardous, so they are safe on the road and indoors, as well as when travelling by aeroplane, but you should confirm this with your airline when booking your flight.
