These are valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries (VRLA), they also have absorbed glass mat technology (AGM). Together, these technologies produce a battery cell that will not leak and is not hazardous, so it can be used without fear of leakage and is deemed safe for travelling on public transport and other forms of transportation, including aeroplanes (please check with your airline first).
The first thing you should do when installing new batteries is refer to your manual.
The charging of the batteries is important: charge fully before first use; if in doubt over night, charge overnight; charge after every use; do not let them sit around in a discharged state; charge every 8-weeks if not being used to overcome the self-discharge that will occur during this period; do not leave on charger for more than 24-hours.
