Installing the batteries is comparatively simple; refer to your manual for the procedure if you are not sure. They will arrive almost fully charged, but the system will still need to complete a service charge when you power it up. Our advice would be to start the system without any load until fully charged if you have the opportunity; it helps reset to a new energy level properly.
In this UPS, you could expect the batteries to last between two and five years; however, this depends heavily on how they are used. The batteries will get hot in general use; the hotter they get, the shorter the life, so good ventilation is paramount. Keeping the load low will also help extend the lifespan; keep it below 40%. They are often run to the edge of their capabilities; while they may be able to, it will be at the expense of lifespan.
These batteries are absorbed glass mat, AGM and valve-regulated sealed lead-acid, or VRLA for short. They require no maintenance and, because of their chemistry, can be mounted on the side in rack-mounted or tower UPS systems without fear of leakage; they are non-hazardous so that they can be used in data centres, hospitals, and, of course, the home office.
