This offer is for the batteries that go inside the unit, not the actual unit itself. The batteries we send will be almost fully charged, but the UPS will still run a service charge upon installation, so until that completes, you will not have full runtime protection. You probably want to install and go, but it's best to run the system for a few minutes before proceeding.
To get a long battery life, try to keep the load below 40%. It's capable of much more, but the payoff will be battery life. It's reasonable to expect the batteries to last between two and five years in this UPS, but usage will determine that. The batteries will get hot in general use, and the hotter they get, the shorter their life.
