Being sealed AGM units, there's no electrolyte to check or top up, just charge and go. Kids tend to run these quads down in short, hard bursts rather than one steady session, so it's worth putting the set on charge after every outing instead of waiting for it to run flat, a habit that keeps all three cells working evenly and protects their lifespan. When fitting the new set, tighten the screw terminals firmly enough for a solid connection without overtightening, since AGM terminals can strip or crack under excess torque.
The clearest sign this set needs replacing is the quad struggling to reach the speed each limiter setting is supposed to allow, particularly the top setting, along with sluggish acceleration from a standing start or the motor bogging down on grass or a slight incline. A shorter ride time between charges, or the quad cutting out under load when it didn't used to, both point the same way.
Lead-acid batteries, AGM included, are among the most widely recycled products in everyday use, with the lead, plastics and electrolyte all reprocessed through standard battery recycling schemes. Once this set eventually wears out, take it to a battery recycling point or retailer offering take-back rather than putting it out with general rubbish.
