When the battery is delivered, it should be more or less fully charged; however, we always recommend a top-up charge upon receipt and before first use. If the machine is used regularly, that will keep the battery charged; therefore, no extra charging will be needed. But if there is going to be a period of 6-weeks or so without use, then you should give it a recharge to keep the cells fresh.
