This pack is for a pair of 12v sealed lead batteries. They combine in your stairlift to give the 24v you need. If your batteries have been in your stairlift for a few years and its starting to struggle to move or do it very slowly, then it's time to replace them. You can save a considerable amount of money by doing this yourself and buying the batteries from us rather than the stairlift makers, and using their engineers as the call out for such a job can be a lot.

If you choose to do it yourself, the job is not difficult. You would be wise to ensure the seat is not at the bottom of the stairs as the batteries are on the downstairs side of the seat. Also, ensure the power has been disconnected from the mains and remove the seat up and out of the way. Then remove the cowling under the seat, and you will see the batteries, swap them over, and you are done.
These are valve-regulated sealed lead acid batteries. They will not leak and are not hazardous. This type of battery cell is recyclable, so when they have come to the end of their life, please direct them to a recycling centre for processing.
If you are not using the stair lift for long periods, you should ensure it is in such a position that you can charge it every four weeks to keep the cells active so they last longer.
