This is a more specialised cordless power tool, normally reciprocating saws do not get used every day which might not be the best option for a rechargeable battery, they like to be kept charged, if you have other tools in the range then they will take the same battery so rotate the use of them, if you do not then ensure they are fully charged before putting away and every 8-weeks, it will take a number of charges and use in the tool before it will be possible to take a full capacity charge, this is quite a normal part of the conditioning of a rechargeable battery.
The chemistry of this battery is nickel metal hydride, a more modern replacement of the earlier NI-CD type, it will work in all of the chargers originally supplied with the tools, the battery will get very warm when charging, this is normal, fully charge before first use and when it arrives
