Invacare produce some amazing powered wheelchairs and the Nutron series does not disappoint, packed with tons of features as standard and many more options to upgrade your electric vehicle and make it your own. The Invacare Nutron R50, R50-LX, R51, R51-LX and R51-LXP takes as standard a pair of 12v 35ah U1 batteries with the option to upgrade to physically larger and higher ampere batteries for extra mileage.

Which battery is right for you?
As stated, the standard and smallest batteries are what we are selling here however using the easy upgrade tool above you can select longer lasting batteries for extra mileage and all round better batteries. The batteries you can select from are
GEL 31.6ah - same physical size as 35ah with large bolt through terminals and GEL technology.
AGM 55ah - physically longer batteries with bolt down terminals to give extra range.
M22NF 51ah GEL - same size as AGM-55ah but with large bolt through terminals and GEL technology (this is what the manufacturer would recommend and is the best available).
The batteries are valve regulated sealed lead acid, and absorbed glass mat construction, they will not spill if mounted on the side and not-hazardous so can be used indoors as well as outside, on public transport and flown with but you should check with your particular airline first.

Charge your new Invacare Nutron R50 and R51 mobility batteries before first use. They will come to you almost fully charged anyway but that first charge is important, charge until it states its fully charged or if in doubt over night. Charge as soon as you can after every use, do not leave the batteries in a semi discharged state as this will shorten possible life span.
If not being used for elongated periods then a quick top up charge every 2 months will help slow down the detrimental effects for self discharge that will certainly start to show over this period.
