So the light is on telling you to change your batteries, which may be accompanied by an ear-splitting audible alarm that, let's face it is horrible to hear in a working office, do not delay. You have this installed to protect your valuable data stored on your server or computer. Change the batteries as soon as possible; it is straightforward, and you save a lot of money by doing it yourself. We will explain how below.

Shut down all the equipment your UPS is doing a fine job protecting, then shut down and remove it entirely from power by disconnecting the power lead.

On the front, you will see a separate panel from the body. It has finger holes at the top of the sides, pull it off and down, sometimes its easier to use a flat screwdriver for popping it off if it is very tight and saves you from catching your fingernail, it will have a small lead that should be long enough for you to pull the cover out of the way and place on top the unit.

You will then be presented with the metal battery door. Sometimes these are held on with screws, and others by plastic grommets, work out which yours has, pull the door down, and then remove it to give yourself more access.

There is often some fingerhold under the batteries to help you slide them out, be careful, as they are pretty heavy. Once out, you can disconnect the lead, attaching them to the UPS. It is just a matter of changing the leads over one at a time with the new batteries and putting them back in the reverse order. Make sure you have the pull-out strap fixed and not bundled up behind, as they may not slide in, and it will be challenging to get the batteries out in a few years when you need to change them again. I told you it was easy, and how much money you saved, the call out alone would have been considerably more than this battery pack.

There are two batteries in this pack to fit the battery pack that goes in the APC Smart-UPS 10000, SMT1000I and SMT1000IC. They are valve regulated and designed for the job. They are 12v 12ah each.

The physical size of the batteries is 151mm x 65mm x 94mm.
