This range of Gtech cordless electric assisted floor sweepers use a NI-MH battery to power the brush making it easier and more efficient to keep you floors clean, it is important that you keep the rotating brush clear of debris and hair after use as this can slow down the motor.

Changing the battery is quite easy, on the SW01 you remove the extension handle and the dust tray and undo the small Philip's screw that hold the battery door and the battery is inside this, just change the battery over, taking care not to touch the terminals on any metal parts.
The battery will come with a reasonable amount of charge but you should still fully charge it before first use, the chargers supplied with the cordless sweeper are normally 500mAh and this battery is a 1800mah so will take no longer than 4 hours from a fully discharged battery, although its tempting just to leave the battery on charge when you are not using the sweeper, it would be best to remove it once a full charge has been reached, this stops it making small interim charges which over time will shorten its life. If you are not using the product for long periods then a recharge every 8-weeks will help it last longer and never put away in a discharged state
