The Leoch DJW12-2.2 & LP12-2.2 is a small sealed lead battery pack; our replacement is the same physical size. It is generally used in portable devices that require a rechargeable 12v power source.
This battery will be delivered with a reasonable charge already in it. But it is always good practice to charge a rechargeable battery fully when it arrives and before first use. Although you probably will not even notice, it will take several charges and be used in the device before it can accept a full-capacity charge. This is quite normal and part of the conditioning process that all rechargeable batteries undergo at the start of their life.
If it is fitted in a portable piece of equipment, charge after every use. It will do the cells no good, allowing them to sit in a discharged state for longer than necessary. If it is not used for long periods, recharge it every six weeks to maintain a healthy battery. But only charge until charged, then remove. Overnight is okay, but not for days on end.
