Installing the batteries is comparatively simple, refer to your manual for the procedure if you are not sure, they will come out to you almost fully charge but the system will still need to complete a service charge upon firing up, you should of course be aware that while this is happening the system will not be able to offer the full backup runtime period until its finished, you will find its better to allow the system to run without load to start to reset the new battery energy level
It would not be unreasonable to expect batteries to last between 2 to five years in this APC UPS, this unfortunately will be very dependent on the general conditions its put under, ensure there is adequate ventilation around the device, do not block the vents, do not allow it to be used as a shelf to put files on, if the batteries overheat it shortens the life span, to get a long battery life you should try to keep the load below 40%, its capable much more but the pay off will be battery life
These batteries are absorbed glass mat, AGM and valve regulated sealed lead acid or VRLA for short, they require no maintenance and due to their chemistry can be mounted on the side in rack mounted or tower UPS systems without the fear of leakage, they are not-hazardous so can be used in data centres, hospitals and of course the home office.
