It will take several uses in the tool and associated charges before the cells will be capable of holding a maximum capacity charge. This is quite normal and part of the conditioning process that all rechargeable batteries undergo. Do not put away a fully discharged battery, especially if it will be a long time before it is used again. If not being used much, then never put away flat and charge every two months
Many of our compatible Dewalt batteries may come in more than one capacity, i.e., the battery's energy storage. We may have a standard rated at 1500mAh, and an upgrade at 3000mAh. Both will be fine to use with the tool and charger, but the latter would last twice as long between charges, so double the work achieved, normally for a very little extra outlay.
