This battery kind is sealed, it is a valve-regulated lead acid which is abbreviated to VRLA. They are also absorbed glass mat or AGM which means it will not leak even if mounted on their side as the acid is contained within a gel and not a fluid. They are non-hazardous and can safely be used on public transport including aeroplanes.

We often see this size battery on childrens ride-on toys but no doubt there are many other uses. If it is being used on a portable device like this without constant mains power then you should try and manage the charging regime in a manner which will be beneficial to the battery. This kind of battery does not like to be partially or fully discharged for any period of time, so the best way to deal with this is to charge it after every use. Do not try to run down the battery and if not being used for long periods then charge every five or six weeks to keep the cells activated. This will certainly help prolong the battery for much longer, if you allow it to become discharged it will only reduce overall battery life.
