Is the panel on your Brooks stair lift telling you its time get the engineers in to change the batteries, are you concerned how much it's going to cost you, your right you probably should be, it's a job well within the capabilities of most people, so if not you we are sure you know somebody who could tackle it at a fraction of the cost it's going to be if you call in the engineers. The batteries will need changing every few years, it's a fact, you might be lucky and get up to five years, but probably not so why not learn how to save money and do it yourself. Remember to isolate the power, unplug it from the mains before starting, the batteries are located in the chassis below the seat, you will want to remove the seat first or get it out of the way, you may have to remove the safety pads and trim before removing the Phillips screws holding the carriage cover together exposing the batteries, just replace them one at a time and reverse the order to put back together, the first time you do it is probably going to take you 20 minutes getting to know what to do, the second time you will half that, and just think how much money you have saved not paying for a stair lift engineer to come out.

As with all rechargeable batteries it is important to charge periodically if not being charged, for example if you are lucky enough to spend the winter months in sunnier climates, in the case of being fitted in a stair lift it means if you disconnect from power for long periods you want to recharge every couple of months to keep the batteries in order.
