Laverda as a company goes right back to the 1870s. founded in Italy where the focus was on agricultural machinery but after two world wars a new direction was needed. It is said that the first motorcycle they produced was cast, literally on a kitchen table, whether that's true or folklore we will never know but within just a few years of this humble start, motorcycles were winning races and in style.

Over the years Laverda made ever larger motorcycles with successful twins and triples. They were extremely well made and built to last, but the invasion of the new Japanese lighter and cheaper machines took its toll on this magnificent brand and it was swallowed up by fellow Italian company Aprilia in 2004.

If you are lucky to have a Laverda it is doubtful that you use these classics every day, if you do then well done. It’s more likely that they come out when the sunshine does, which is not often enough to keep the battery up to spec. So charge it every six or seven weeks to keep the cells fresh so you are not disappointed when the sun does eventually shine.
