Iveco is an Italian company the name is short for Industrial Vehicles Corporation. The brand name first made an appearance in the 1970's and always been associated with commercial vehicles from light to heavy duty. These are sold worldwide producing not only vans and lorries but much heavier plant such as fire engines and quarry equipment for civil and military use. The chances are you would have seen one of their vehicles somewhere, perhaps ridden a bus, seen a dustcart collect rubbish or the man that has delivered your parcel or groceries that you order online.

The Iveco Daily started life in 1978, up until 1983. It was also marked as the Fiat Daily, you might have also seen it as the EcoDaily, this light commercial vehicle has been produced as a Van, Minibus and pick-up truck with lots of different options on body and engine size.

The first Generation ran until 1990 with 3.5 and 5 ton versions (named the 35 and 50) and the first Turbo diesel TurboDaily was introduced, the second generation ran until the year 2000. Most notable for the drivers point of view was a much improved cab recognising that people spend a lot of time in them. The 3.5 tin version was removed from the UK market after Fords involvement because it competed direct with the transit the larger called the Iveco-Ford Truck, larger panel vans were introduced along with up-rated turbo engines. The third generation came along in 2000 and the TurboDaily name was dropped as all the new ones came with a common rail INJ system using Unijet technology.

2006 saw the fourth generation, a all wheel version was made available with single and double cans, more power plants and other body's with models such as Combi, Agile, CNG, cabin cruiser to add, fifth generation started in 2011 with additional engine power plants and 2014 saw the 6th generation with even more efficient engines with manual and Auto gearboxes.

These vans often get used a lot, they will run forever or so it seems but they do need to be maintained to keep them on the road and that includes the battery. You do not want to be push starting a truck of this size, so if you drive it all the time you know when the battery starts to not be as efficient as it once was, thats the time to change the battery. Hopefully it will be the summer and you will not have lost a day's work because it would not start on a cold winters morning.
