The following information will help you decide whether to purchase replacement mobility batteries for the Amigo Mobility GT Transport. The system uses 40 amp-hour GEL energy storage batteries. It uses 2 x 12-volt batteries. They are compatible replacements, as expected, and are rechargeable. They are made for mobility use, so they are deep-cycle capable, sealed, and will not spill any liquids, making them safe to handle and use indoors.

After you unpack your new battery order from us, you'll notice they have a good charge, but you still need to charge them before first use fully. It should not take that long- just until the charger light indicates it's ready. If really in doubt, overnight will be more than enough. You may not need to leave it that long. You can fit and use the equipment without charging, but it's worth waiting until it's fully charged, and it will help extend overall life expectancy.

It may take several full charges and alternating use for the battery to condition and reach full capacity. This is quite normal; make sure you charge your new batteries after every use. They can handle many charges, but this will decrease if you let them run down in between. Fully discharging the batteries will only reduce their life expectancy. This won't help them and will cost you money in the long run. If you have extended periods without using the batteries, remember to recharge them every four weeks, and do not store them discharged, even partially. Do not leave them on the charger for more than 24 hours at a time.

These 12-volt batteries are valve-regulated and AGM (absorbed glass mat, and do not need any liquid, as the acid is held within the glass mat; this means they will not spill. They are not hazardous, so they are safe for use around the home or when travelling, including on aeroplanes. Please confirm this with your airline at the time of booking. They are deep-cycle, which would be required for this application.
