The key to looking after these kind of batteries is keeping them charged, while it may not always piratical you will want to keep the batteries with at least half of their charge to avoid any degradation of the lead cells, so where you can fully charge after every use, its is far better charge when you have used it lightly than to do a big charge at the end of the week, all you are doing then is reducing the overall life span of the battery which will of course mean it will need replacing earlier. If you often use more than 50% of your batteries then the lithium might be worth looking at as when you use more than 50% of a lead battery it will start to degrade, and if you do it often it will get worse.
