Installing the batteries in not a difficult job, well within the capabilities of most people, you should refer to your manual for the method, they are designed to be replaced, the ones we send to you will be almost fully charged but the UPS will still complete a service charge upon installation, it does mean of course that during this interim period the full runtime protection will not be available to you until its finished, you probably just want to install and go but its best to run the system without a load to so it can properly reset
You can expect a battery life expectancy of between 2-5 years in your UPS, this will of course be very dependent on its general use, the batteries will get hot in general use, the hotter they get the shorter the life so good ventilation is paramount, the higher the load the harder its working which directly relates to battery life, if you can try to keep it below 40%
These are valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries and will not leak so there is no problem installing in tower or rack systems as they can be fitted on their side, both AGM and VRLA, they are not-hazardous so safe for busy data centres as well of course as the home office
