The first thing to check is whether you are indeed looking at the correct battery set for your UPS. There is more than one APC Smart-UPS 750 model type. On the reverse of the unit, you will find a nameplate with the model number on it. Ensure it states SMT750i or SMT750iC; it may look more like SMT7501. If this is not the model printed there, then use the search bar above with your correct model number.

The batteries in this unit are very simple to fit. It will take only between five and ten minutes. We will outline the procedure below. You should not need any special tools for this, just a screwdriver.
Once you have unpacked your delivery from us, you will notice two batteries in the pack; they may have plastic covers over the terminals; these are just for protection and can be removed.
Ensure you have shut down any equipment that this UPS is protecting. Once complete, shut down the UPS itself and remove all power leads; further ensure that the main power source has been unplugged from the wall socket.
The front of the SMT750i has a couple of finger-size indentations towards the top at the sides. You should be able to pull off and down to remove the front panel. If it's very tight, then use the flat edge of a screwdriver just to ease it off either side. This may well save your fingernails.
The front cover is connected by a ribbon lead that is long enough for you to put the cover to one side—on top of the unit is usually best. You will then be presented with the battery door. This has two white plastic toggles at the top. Just pull on them to pull down the battery door.
You will now be able to see the batteries. Pull on them to slide them out. They are attached by a plug at the back on the top, which you should also be able to see.
With the new batteries on the bench or desk, lay the old ones next to them, swap the cables set over to the new ones, and replace them in the UPS in the reverse order, ensuring the plug connector makes contact and completes reassembly.
Your UPS is now ready. The model allows you to inform the unit that it has new batteries. We suggest you run them up first without any load until the batteries are fully charged.
Your old batteries can be recycled, so please ensure they go to a recycling centre; they have a high lead content, which is a valuable metal and should be disposed of properly; more details can be found on our recycle page.
