The batteries that we dispatch to you will be almost fully charged, and your UPS will complete a full charge, and this helps it reset to the new battery cell; this will, of course, means that until its finished, this operation is, you will not have a complete backup runtime protection, you will find its better to allow the system to run without load to start. In contrast, it completes the first charge to reset the new battery energy level.
Batteries used in this application would have an expected life span of between two to five years, but this will vary significantly on the general conditions, not pile books or files on top of it. It needs good ventilation, batteries will get very hot, and if the vents are blocked, it will get hotter. The hotter it gets, the shorter the life. You should keep the load below 40% to get a long battery life. This may have crept up if you added more devices over time. It is capable of much more, but the payoff will be the battery life, so it's a balancing act.
This type of battery is valve-regulated sealed lead acid. They need no maintenance, will not spill and can be mounted on the side, so they are suitable for rack or tower UPS systems and not hazardous. They are safe for mission-critical installations.
