The HP Compaq 353405-B31 battery pack goes in the R5500XR rack mountable 2U uninterruptible power supply, the batteries are valve regulated sealed lead acid, they will not leak so can be mounted on their side without fear of leakage, as they are also non-hazardous they are safe for use in mission critical applications such as busy date centres, hospitals as well of course the humble office or home.

Although the batteries will come out to you almost fully charged the UPS will still need to top up the charge after installing, during this period the system will not have a full back up runtime, the batteries are hot swap capable.

Expected life span in such a device is between 2-5 years, this can be reduced if there is a constant high load at the outer capability of the UPS and even poor ventilation around the box or the room that its sited in.
