If you have a VP1600ELCD or VP1600EILCD you should upgrade to a 9ah battery in order to get the most out of your device. You can do this by following the instructions in the aforementioned section on simple upgrades. The UPS won't be able to operate for its full runtime if you don't choose this upgrade. The upgrade will also be advantageous for the VP1200ELCD and VP1200EILCD.

Since it varies greatly depending on the amount of stress the battery is subjected to, here are some tips to help it last as long as possible. When you first install it, give the battery some time to settle and run it for a few hours without any load. Avoid using the UPS as a table and keep it in an air-conditioned area because airflow is another important consideration. Last but not least, the battery will benefit if you can keep the load below 40%.
