As standard, the models above require a single twelve-volt, seven-ampere battery, and that is what is on offer here. A direct compatible replacement that is easy to install with only some basic tools and knowledge. However, we can offer an upgrade to this, a nine ampere (8.8) battery that is manufactured to the highest quality and will be able to provide you with a longer runtime when it's needed the most. Regardless of which battery you purchase, it does require some simple maintenance from yourself which is detailed below.
If you have the 800VA or 850VA model, the upgrade to a higher ampere is strongly suggested.
Looking after batteries in a UPS is fairly straight forward, whether it’s in a small UPS like the ones on this page or large machines that require a whole room. First thing to do, after installation is allow the UPS to run without any load to ensure the battery gets a full charge and is settled in its new home. Secondly, as batteries can get hot while in use (remember the battery is being used the whole time, not just when you have a powercut), proper ventilation is essential. Make sure the fan is not blocked and that you are not using the UPS as a footrest or desk. Replace the battery when needed: UPS batteries have a limited lifespan, typically 3-5 years. If you notice reduced performance or shorter run times, it may be time to replace the battery.
