It would not be unreasonable to hope for a 2 to 5 year life span of batteries in the UPS, this is not a set rule though life span will change depending on how they are used, the batteries will certainly get hot in general use that's normal and it follows that the hotter they get the shorter the life so good ventilation is paramount, the higher the constant load applied the harder its working which directly relates to battery life, if you can try to keep it below 40%

These are valve regulated sealed lead acid batteries and will not leak so there will be no problem installing them in either tower or rack systems as they can be fitted on their side, both AGM and VRLA, they are not-hazardous so safe for busy data centres, medical back up as well of course as the home office
