The batteries that we dispatch to you will be almost fully charged, your UPS will complete a full charge and this helps it reset to the new battery cell, with this in mind it will follow that there will be a short period of time that the system is unable to offer its full runtime protection while it is doing this, if you can manage it the best advice would be to allow the initial charge to complete without any load, we know this may not be convenient in a lot of installations.
You can assume that battery life in the UPS would be between 2-5 years, this will however vary somewhat depending on the general position of the item and overall use, do not pile books or files on top of it, it needs good ventilation, batteries will get very hot, if the vents are blocked it will get hotter, the hotter it gets the shorter the life, If you can keep the constant load below 40% the batteries will end up lasting longer, a high load will be at the expense of the overall life expectancy of the cells.
The batteries are valve regulated sealed lead acid or VRLA for short with AGM technology, no need for any maintenance, except of course charging, and can be mounted on their side in a UPS with fear of leakage, they are not-hazardous so safe for use in hospitals, busy data centres as well as the home office.
these hot swap capable batteries are recyclable, please ensure they are disposed of at a recycling centre when they have fulfilled their purpose for you, more information about recycling can be found at the foot of this page, check the product code carefully before ordering as many UPS systems have similar ones.
