The batteries that you receive from us will be almost fully charged, but your UPS will still need to complete a full service charge, of course while this charge going on your UPS will not be in a position to offer the full runtime protection until its finished this, while it may never be convenient in this fast moving world it would still be best to run without any load to start so the system can fully reset itself to the new battery energy level
It would not be unreasonable to hope for a 2 to 5 year life span of batteries in the UPS, this will unfortunately be very dependent on the general conditions its put under, the batteries will certainly get hot in general use that's normal and it follows that the hotter they get the shorter the life so good ventilation is paramount, to get a long battery life you should try to keep the load below 40%, if you have added more devices over time this may have crept up, its capable much more but the pay off will be battery life so it's a balancing act
