When you receive your batteries they will be almost fully charged but as in every UPS system when you install new batteries the system will need to do a complete full charge. During this time the machine will not be able to offer you its full runtime protection and to help it you should run it without any load until its finished.

Batteries typically last two to five years once they are installed however depending on the situation this can vary greatly. To maximise the life of them they need to have good ventilation and should not be used as part of the office furniture. The batteries will get hot as they are working hard protecting your data 24-hours a day and the hotter they are the shorter their life so you should try to keep the load below 40% although of course they are capable of much more.
