Fitting the batteries is quite an easy task to do yourself, you can refer to your manual for the procedure, once you have fitted them the system will want to fully charge the batteries. even though they will come out to you almost charged it will still want to complete the task, so there will be a period of time where you do not have the full protection that it can offer until it has completed this operation. if you can its best to do this initial charge without any load, we know this may not be convenient in a lot of installations but that is best advise.
You would expect these kind of batteries to last between two to five years in this kind of device, this will however will vary greatly depending on the conditions or storage and overall use. using the system as part of the office furniture is not the best idea, it needs ventilation. the batteries will get very hot as they are working hard 24-hours a day. the more heat the shorter their life, keeping the load low will extend the life span, in a ideal world below 40%, they are so often run to the edge of their capabilities, while they may be able to do it its reducing the life span.
The cells are absorbed glass mat or AGM, they are also valve regulated sealed lead acid or VRLA. this is the recommended type of battery for this installation, they will not leak if mounted on the side so safe to be used in tower or rack mountable configuration with fear of spillage in mission critical applications as well as the home office.
This product is recyclable, please ensure they are disposed of at a recycling centre when they have fulfilled their purpose for you. check the product code carefully as many UPS systems have similar ones.
