We will send you batteries that are almost fully charged. Your UPS will finish off the charge, which helps it reset to the battery cell itself. This means that there will be a period when the system cannot offer full runtime protection while it is doing this. If you can, it's best to do this initial charge without any load. We know this may not be convenient in many installations, but that is the best advice.
In this kind of device, you would expect the batteries to last somewhere between two to five years; this will be very dependent on the use and the way the system is stored. Good ventilation: if it's in an office, do not use it as a bookshelf. Keeping the load low will extend the life span, in an ideal world, below 40%; they often run to the edge of their capabilities, and while they may be able to do it, it reduces the life span.
Batteries require no maintenance, are AGM and VRLA, and are not hazardous. They can be used in rack-mountable or tower systems, as they will not leak if mounted on the side.
